The Hartley Block opened in March 2019. In 2004 and 2006, four connected historic building on Lisbon Street suffered extensive fire damage and were condemned and demolished, leaving a gaping hole in Lewiston's most iconic street. One of the buildings was the site of the 1906 art studio of Marsden Hartley, a noted early modern American painter born and raised in Lewiston.
The Hartley Block is a mixed use, mixed-income project featuring 63 rental apartments and 4,000 sq. ft. of retail space along Lisbon Street. The one, two and three-bedroom apartments vary in size from 595 sq. ft. to 1,080 sq. ft. Included in the rent are heat, hot water, a fitness center, community room, children's playroom, indoor bike storage room, complimentary wi-fi and one covered parking space directly behind the building. Within easy walking distance are the public library (across the street), shops, restaurants, cafes, and two major parks.
